"Care for some non-con-psyco-babble?"
Take my words with a grain of salt. Perhaps i am insane, but how do you know? What is insanity?..... Thought so! I like the words of the Buddha don't take anyones words for truth, without thinking about them for yourself... not even mine. So here goes:
The topic is education, western society, and thinking for yourself...
Education. All my life I have been told its good. It is societys norm. Say its bad and people will automatically think your insane, and not think about it. Like they do with so many other things. Sad but true. Anyway I have always said " its not what you know that makes you smart its how you use your knowledge. " I seen an interesting site that says all education would like to make us is a mindless memory bank.
"Wahoo I have memorized a whole truck load of useless facts that have no consquence now I can use them to... umm what are they for again? Oh for the tests! What after that? College... then a job... Yes now I can do mindless work for all my life till I am so old I can't move... so your telling me I am enslaved in school so I can be enslaved worse in the so called real world... uhuh-uh I am doing this why? Right..."
Has anyone ever stopped to consider how stupid and wrong this is. This is how children lose their "magic" the wonder at the wide world their innocence is demolished in a horrible world of drudgery. Just so we can struggle to get rich, but very few obtain wealth. Even if they did I am sceptical that it would bring you fulfillment. Our whole idealology in this country is flawed. Sorry I have no solution, but perhaps I can bring the attention of it to a few.
True knowledge isn't found in school. Or perhaps not really in books either. It is inside each one of us, people can't really give it to us they can only show us. It is different for everyone.
In fact I am slighty afraid of college. Will it stomp out my spark, and passion for life? Bend me to slavery to capitalism. I will be as uselesss as a calculator. Functional yes, but am I fullfulling my divine potential... doubtful... very doubtfull. I want to explore the far reaches of my consciousness. The nature of being. Why are we here, where are we going. How can I fulfill my divine potential? By memorizing the life biography of George Washington does this service much of a purpose in my life. No.
We are all like hamsters in a wheel. Created by humans own stupidity. It is easier to follow blindly like sheep then to step out of the crowd and question. Some famous dude once said: " What the majority is doing is usually wrong." Hmm Perhaps our goals in life are wrong and simply need to be put in persective (think for yourself not what tv friends or school tells you to think) Maybe then you can escape your self imposed hamster wheel. Imposed yes by society, but kept up by you. The US is in a horrible state. Sorry I am not patriotic enough. Sure freedom is good, but we arent free enough. "Rushing Rushing till life is no fun" And all because we follow some stupid rules imposed by society. Gee people. Open your eyes and stepp outta the wheel. Don't let the others think for you. School would like us all to be similiar, yet don't listen. Dare to be you and set yorself free. No one can do it, but you. You are in control of Your life no one but you!
