The Virus

a long and sinuous worm
slithering pathetically in the dark
consuming all it encounters
indiscriminately devouring all it sees

its hunger insatiable
its lust unquenchable
destroying one and the next
uncaring unfeeling unyielding

consequences forgotten
its magnificent world destroyed
in the rash ignorance
of its eternal indifference
